This Far: Today I was asked to describe my life up to this point. I sat back and said “This Far!” I could see the look on his face. He had that What the heck look on his face…LOL. I said, “When I was growing up I lived in a house that, at times had no power. Sometimes we had no water, and sometimes no food. Through all of that, God has still brought me this far!” I could see his look had changed from confused to intrigued. So I continued. “ There were plenty of times my mother had to work late night shifts, because she had to hold down two jobs being a single parent. So at the tender age of 7 years old, I stayed at home by myself. I taught myself not to be scared of all of the bumps in the night. Even though at that time, I did not know God was watching me. I mean look at me… He has brought me this far!” “I remember getting very sick, and my mother wrapped me in a blanket and rushed me to the hospital, then waking up 2 days later. Here I am again. God kept bringing me this far.” “There were so many dumb things that I did as a kid, like running across busy freeways, or jumping off roofs just for the fun of it. Yet He has brought me this far.” “As I got older, Cancer hit me, and I went a week with no one by my side. Not once did I complain. When I got better, and finished my last treatment, my sister sent me a plane ticket so I could come see here. I remember thinking…. I made it this Far.” “This Far, if I ever decide to get a tattoo, is what I would get. I am sure there are quite a few of us that could never be to thankful to God for bringing us THIS FAR!” He just sat there looking at me. Then he fixed his mouth and said, “Dang, I did not know you were going to get all deep on me...LOL” Take one second out your day and thank God, for bringing you THIS Far, because he still is moving us on down the road. Let us say “Amen”.
