This Friday is the fundraiser for the ASEAC Scholarship Program. $200 a year gives an indigenous student one year of high school – you can commit to 6 years (padrino) and see a child all the way through to graduation. I met a young man & his mom two weeks ago – he is graduating this year (one our first graduates of the scholarship program) and going to University – his mom was so very proud of him! For some families they must choose which child will go to high school as financially they can’t manage. Of course there are single moms in the mix as well.
