† This Is The One † Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, The LORD has not chosen these. So he asked Jesse, Are these all the sons you have? There is still the youngest, Jesse answered. He is tending the sheep. Samuel said, Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives. So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features. Then the LORD said, Rise and anoint him; this is the one. 1 Samuel 16:10–12 NIV While the sheep grazed peacefully, He reached down and picked up another rock, placed it in his sling, and twirled it about before releasing it and watching it soar through the air. David was out in the field tending the sheep day after day, playing his harp, spending time with the Lord, and he had no idea that his future was being formed. David had seven brothers, all who were older and bigger than him, but God chose him anyway because God looks on the heart. David spent time with God in the field, while he was tending sheep, and God took his life to a new level while he was doing it. Today, talk with God wherever you are, whatever you are doing. While in the field or in the home, talk with Him. The relationship that you develop in the simple things will lead on to something much greater. God just might say: this is the one, anoint them.
