This Saturday Con Magees will take part in the over 35s 7 a side football tournament up in St Pauls Belfast. This competition is in aid of MND (Motor Neurone Disease), to help create awareness and help raise much needed funds to fight it. At the minute there are 25 other clubs/county teams taking part and we have been paired up with our old country rivals Erins Own Cargin along with Gort Na Mona and competition hosts Sarsfields in Group 5 on Sarsfields main pitch. Our first game is at 11:20am against Sarsfields, then 11:40am against Cargin and then finally 12:20pm against Gort Na Mona. The quater finals will kick off at 2:30pm on both the St Pauls and Rossas Pitches, Semi Finals and Final to follow straight after. If any club members have a free sat morning, or are already up in the city, then why not come up and support this very worth while cause and cheer on the old, and older footballers from the club!!! Following the tournament, there will be refreshments and a buffet in the St Pauls GAC clubrooms followed by entertainment from 3pm Session musicians (4pm-6pm): Laura Kerr – fiddle player from Lurgan,Co.Armagh, former member of ‘Captain Kennedy’ Ruadhrai O’Kane – fiddle player from Dungiven, Co.Derry former member of ‘Óige’ Liam MacGabhann (Smith) – fluteplayer from Short Strand, Co. Antrim In the evening Bernadette Morris will take to the stage to entertain the crowd from 8.00 pm. Bernadettes recently released album, ‘All the Ways You Wander’ has received rave reviews across Ireland and beyond and earned her a guest spot with the infamous John Spillane earlier this year. Bernadette will be accompanied by renowned local Belfast musician Rohan Young and all Ireland champion musicians Niall McCrickard from Co. Down and Ciaran Hanna from Co. Tyrone.
