This Saturday, March 22nd, Swing Into Spring as Recycled Radio spotlights another in the series of Jubilee radio shows. This one, from March 19th, 1945, features Benny Carter and His Orchestra, Effie Smith, The Four Blazes, Josh White (who performs two songs, including One Meat Ball - his recording became the first ever million seller by an African American artist), and Illinois Jacquet. Here in Brattleboro, the Latchis was showing an Abbott & Costello picture, and the Paramount was showing a Rita Hayworth movie - which had, on the same bill, a Walter Lanz cartoon from the Swing Symphony series called Sliphorn King of Palaroo with trombone and vocal by Jack Teagarden!
