This Sunday morning message at the GBC - Allowing Levers To Determine Our Happiness (1 Timothy 6:6-12) If I were to define the word Leverage in terms of todays sermon topic it would be - Influence or power used to achieve a desired result. Living a Godly lifestyle that seeks to reflect the characteristics of God will be a life that is not only living in the Spirit of God but also walking in the Spirit of God. This life will produce fruit such as patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control. Other characteristics of this lifestyle in-Christ will be those of mercy, honesty, humbleness, meekness and compassionate. Contentment is a sense of peace based on your relationship with God and not on life circumstances or finances. All too often money is the main lever in determining ones contentment in life. And unfortunately many people who are saved and godly are not actually ever content because of the leverage allowed to things other than the Lord in their lives. These individuals are saved but not satisfied. I like to call these types sour Christians and often these are the ones that are also known as career crisis Christians. Often this is the result of: 1. They dont feel assured in their identity in Christ. 2. They have a carnal lifestyle holding hands with Jesus and the devil. 3. They have not been taught to be content in the Lord. 4. They arent experiencing victory in Jesus because they never actually reach forward to grow in the Lord. 5. Most are simply too apathetic to grow. What ever be the case the Christian should find contentment within his relationship with Christ without seeking money or other levers to determine his happiness. ~ Pastor Scott
