This Thanksgiving we are thankful for our family and friends as well as all of our community farm program members. I just finished making the pie crust dough for the pumpkin pies and its stacked neatly in the refrigerator next to the puréed roasted pumpkin. Well be busy making pies tonight! The freezing rain seems to have let up a bit so Im heading outside to collect the eggs. This time is also known as dont let the chickens out/dont get locked in the coop. If I go armed with a scoop of scratch and toss it in the corner, I can quickly collect all the eggs while the hens are pecking at the corn but somedays one ambitious chicken makes a run for it and others try to follow. Hoping each hen laid today - need eggs for the pie! Happy Thanksgiving from everyone at Appelget Farm!
