This Wednesdays club antics: CYCLOCROSS IS HERE! This Wednesday the first of our BC coached Cyclocross sessions will be happening! These sessions are mostly a chance to mess around in the mud on the vale and practice you bike handling skills. The sessions are open to all abilities as you can do everything at your own pace and skill level. If you have your own Cyclocross or mountain bike then bring it along there is no limit on spaces. As well as this the club has 2 cross bikes and one mountain bike for members to borrow as well as 8 bikes from British Cycling. The session starts at 1.30 this Wednesday, meeting at the bottom of the lake on the vale. If you borrow a club bike you will need to meet at the Munrow slightly earlier to pick up the bike, if you borrow a British Cycling bike this week you will have to meet at bottom of the lake on the vale. Please comment below if you would like to come and if you have your own bike or if you would like to borrow one. If you would like to borrow a bike please also tell me 1- what size (small or large will do) 2- what kind of pedals you would like to use (you can put your own SPD pedals on if you would like) It will be first come first serve for the club bikes so get your comments in quick! Obvisously we only have a limited number of bikes to lend out so if we do not have enough we will rotate the people who get to use them every week so that everyone can have a go. Also, I will try my hardest to match people to the right size bike, it may be easier for you to wait until next week so that you can ride a bike that fits. Bring everything you would normally on a road ride but bear in mind your kit is going to be muddy! Cyclocross is really fun and these sessions were really popular for that reason last year. If it turns out you love the mud enough there will also be chances to represent the club in BUCs and the local cross league so some practice will really help you do well if that is what you want to do. I had a go last year on a whim and had so much fun Im now cyclocross captain of the club so these sessions cant be that bad! CLUB RIDES There will also be the usual range of A/B/C rides leaving from the Munrow at 1.30pm if your up for a road ride. Drink, snacks and money for emergency cake are even more important now the temeperatures are dropping!
