This Week Ten comes a bit early cuz Im tired and hungry. Oh and because its mine and I have no deadline with it... Enjoy or not enjoy, I leave that for you to decide. 10. I appreciate it when a stranger holds the door for me. I get frustrated a little when they insist that I walk all the way in before letting go of it. If I say thanks, I got it.. I GOT IT. I appreciate the fact that their worried about by safe entry into the place and wanting to ensure I get ALL THE WAY IN, but come on. 9. On the other side of the above, I really have no time for assholes that have no time to hold the door at all. This also applies to the jerks who close the elevator door before you get there. Its not hard, just swing out a little more if youre in a hurry, hold the elevator door until youre sure everyones in. No one in this town is that important. 8. Had a customer ask me this week..to explain the difference between a fairy and an angel. I was, at first, speechless...then after careful consideration, I responded with Well..a fairy is a fictional figure, small in size, with butterfly wings. She giggled and said well I know all of that...I mean whats the difference in the way they look? Ive always thought fondly of bees, amazing little guys really. They pollinate, and make honey..very independent and hard working. Ive thought this for a long time, till my opinion of them was slightly altered when two of the lil bastards stung me while mowing. Im not allergic, but man did it hurt. Never since the movie My Girl have I hated them so much... Ill be over it soon Im sure. 6. Speaking of winged insects... Robber Flies! Leave em be. They look menacing and nasty, kinda like a wasp and mosquito had a kid...but they are completely harmless to people. In fact they track down and eat wasps, flies, biting flies and any other stinging insects that are harmful. If you dont know what a robber fly looks like, take a second to google it...Ill wait.......okay, yeah...nasty looking I know, but they are our friends. 5. Sometimes when Im climbing a ladder, or up on the roof (gutter cleaning and such) or any other act of daredevilry... I catch myself humming the theme to James Bond. If you dont... You should, makes tasks like that much more fun. 4. Customer number 70 that I can do without: The ones that come in 5 minutes to close, ask a hundred questions, hang out for about 35 minutes, and order..... NOTHING! I dont do that, I wont walk in somewhere five till close and hang out. Ive always tried to be mindful of the official operating hours of any establishment. 3. Today was a good day. I went to KC and decided to take 371 instead of 29. Not a single car but me, there or back. Just me, Jimi Hendrix, The Ramones and even Billy Joel stopped in to say hello. It was one of the most peaceful drives Ive taken in a long time. Sometimes during down moments, all you need is a drive... 2. I got to meet C Thomas Howell and Scot Wilson today...enough said. I was also in the presence of such great actors as James Hampton, Michael Biehn, Kane Hodder and Kari Wuhrer. I was a little star struck today... Greatness all around. 1. Being around celebs all day made me think of Robin Williams. True it was a suicide, but I dont believe that makes it any less tragic. Depression is really no joke, and for any naysayers or pompous asss that think hell Ive been depressed... I havent killed myself... Go step into traffic will ya!?.. Truth is, myself... And anyone reading this right now... Will never know what kind of depression suicide victims feel. Especially that of a celebrity... Because were not in the limelight at all. Imagine your worst day...relationship problems, money troubles, job instability or just regular depressed day... Now, multiply that times about twenty jerks with cameras chasing you around, 10 people bum rushing you at a gas station wanting autographs. Next, add it to the non-stop interviews where you have to mask your problems, along with that asshole who wont let you eat your dinner cuz he has to have a picture for his mom. Do the math...all of that accompanied with your regular job as an actor, musician or other entertainer? I cant imagine... And neither can you. I know they signed on to be famous and like the great Lemmy once told me ...Comes with the gig...if they dont wanna be famous, they should stop trying to be... And although that holds some truth and I agree with it to a certain degree...its still gotta be tough. Rest In Peace Mr Williams, Lauren Bacall, P.S. Hoffman and Jay Adams... You all will be missed.
