This Week in Albany Week ending October 4th, 2013 Governor Stops Anti-Corruption Commission from Investigating Democratic Party It was reported this week that Governor Cuomo pressured his anti-corruption Moreland Commission to cancel a subpoena that would have sought information on how the State Democratic Party spent money from its housekeeping account. State Democrats spent more than $5 million on advertising for the Governor’s legislative agenda earlier this year, with a large portion of that money being raised through large donations from wealthy individuals. While the Moreland Commission is supposed to stand as an independent investigator of government corruption, it is becoming clear that the Cuomo administration does not plan on keeping its campaign promises regarding transparency and accountability.
