This Weeks Staff Picks Sammi: I should probably start this by saying I am a complete car fanantic, I love well engineered, great sounding engines, beautiful body work and I have always been intrigued by the mechanics of the most beautiful cars on the planet. So when I first saw the Linn Sondek LP12 it was no wonder I fell in love. Beautifully crafted solid wood plinth, suspended sub-chasis, a high mass perfectly balanced belt-driven platter and stable arm platform all combine to make the LP12 a precision engineered perfect source to a great sounding Hi-Fi system. Linn’s Sondek LP12 has been iconic since the day it was first Launched in 1972, it was Linn’s first product and helped demonstrate that the most important element in any quality music system is the source of the music itself. So very much like the Great Brisitsh icons that are the Jaguar E Type, the Aston Martin DB5, Rolls-Royce Phantom and even the Mini, Linn have created a true legend that is here to stay. Emma: I recently watched ‘The Fault in our Stars’ in the cinema and have never been so taken aback by a story. The story is based on a Girl called Hazel who has cancer. She unknowingly meets her first love at a Cancer Talk group, a boy called Gus who also has cancer. Their relationship develops throughout the film as they both make their dreams come true even when they face difficult hurdles. The title is taken from Cassius in Shakespeares Julius Caesar: The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars/ But in ourselves, that we are underlings. Perhaps getting cancer was written in the stars for them, but Hazel and Gus realise that it is in themselves to do something in response, up to them to make the best of life. This novel by John green is defiantly aimed for the tear duct.
