This Year in Review from Robert Reich is great but the following - TopicsExpress

This Year in Review from Robert Reich is great but the following points from Eric are also very poignant. . I dont know how to take this, the victories listed are so small or dubious: . 1. Gay marriage, its great to see, but it doesnt really affect many people, and it doesnt threaten the monied interests, which is why it was allowed. . 2. Keystone XL, well it probably doesnt make economic sense anymore with low oil prices and fracking, and the oil will continue to be shipped down on rail cars, not a game changer. . 3. $15 minimum wage, its good, but its happened in very few areas, and the republicans will likely more offset any gain there with right to work legislation . 4. Police/racism demonstrations havent led to a single change, hell the police chief in Ferguson hasnt even lost his job, cops continue to get away with killing civilians and attacking peaceful demonstrators as they always have, and now the NYPD cops are openly defying their civilian leader and scarily claiming demonstrators are responsible for cops being killed. No progress there, and the blow back is already starting. . Against that we have a SCOTUS coming out with more rulings putting corporate rights ahead of the rights of their employees and customers, helping to kill unions and handing politics over to the rich, republicans controlling both the house and senate through gerrymandering and voter suppression, little progress on poverty or inequality, TPP continues onward, no significant progress on global warming etc etc etc.... . Its good to celebrate small victories, but people are already too complacent, no need to add to that by suggesting things are headed in the right direction, because they arent. https://youtube/watch?v=vcoNcbUFGgQ
