This afternoon, I got a copy of the six-page final report from the Chuuk State Political Status Commission. I was also informed that the Chuuk State Legislature has adopted a resolution calling for the approval/acceptance of the commissions report. Thirdly, there was a confirmation that the people of Chuuk are going to vote over the accepted recommendation, namely that Chuuk should separate from the Federated States of Micronesia and embark on a new political status under a Republic of Chuuk government. In voting, the people are going to express whether they agree with separating the State of Chuuk from the FSM or not agree, I presume. The FSM President and the Executive Branch of the FSM National Government are reviewing the situation very carefully from the standpoint of maintaining unity within the 4-States federation. For me, every Chuukese citizens must conscientiously find out for themselves this question before March 3, 2015: Is separation from the FSM really in the best interest of The People of Chuuk at this present time. If YES, why? If NO, why not? And if we can not decide either way, then ask for more time to consider the ultimatum. Do this (asking for more consideration time) by voting NO on March 3rd. Voting YES will not give us time; it will simply place us on the same path with the planets most hasty fools whose regrettable fate the most pious prayers will fail to remedy.
