This afternoon I had to drop something off to a constituent in Fowler. Little did I know that Don Schmitt is a member of the Clintonaires, and they happened to be practicing today. The five of them have been together as a group for nearly 30 years and meet regularly over a few beers, some cheese and smoked salmon in Dons barn. What I thought was gonna be a quick visit turned into me having the opportunity to hear them sing a few songs, and listen to stories of when they sang the National Anthem for the Tigers, where they met Ernie Harwell. I hope I have half their energy and am having this much fun at their age!
