This afternoon as I rounded the walking track I passed a stocky young African American boy sitting on a bench in the lobby part. I nodded to him before noticing he was sitting there crying. As I rounded the track again I prayed, Lord if he knew you life would work out for him at least by eternity. As I approached again he was gone & I walked & prayed some more; then he reappeared, coming up the steps. Do you have a problem that is making you sad? He sat down and told me the story as I sat on a nearby bench. The boys in the gym below had been mean to him including throwing his shoe up on the walking track. They were older; he was 13. I asked him if he went to church; he did. I asked him if he had become a Christian; he had two yrs before. I questioned further to make sure he really understood the cross of Christ; he did. I told him many of those boys probably did not know Jesus and did not have the same glorious eternal future he had. I told him he belonged to Jesus because he was bought with a price (the price Jesus paid on the cross) and that God had a plan for him -- what he was to be and do and that he needed always to seek Gods guidance. The next I saw him he was shooting baskets on the other side of the gym. Life is full of hurts and troubles, but if you know Jesus it is going to turn out really well. Thus every day needs to be committed to God.
