This afternoon our board will once again be considering delaying the General Plan Update timeline, and once again these delays are driven by the desire of certain Planning Commissioners to make sweeping changes to the document before them. This time the Planning Commission is reworking the Housing Element, which is a much more technical document than other parts of the General Plan, raising the concern that their changes will not just be costly and time-consuming, but will result in making the Housing Element inconsistent with both the EIR and with State law, and threatening our ability to seek grants for our first-time home-buyer program.
