This afternoon, the State Department released an Environmental Impact Study on the proposed Keystone XL Pipeline. “We are deeply disappointed by the Environmental Impact Statement report released today by the U.S. State Department on the Keystone XL (KXL) Pipeline project. We strongly believe that if this project is approved it will have a negative impact on the delicate ecosystem of America’s breadbasket, contribute harmful greenhouse gasses that contribute to climate change, and increase America’s dependence on foreign oil, said Elisabeth MacNamara, president of the League of Women Voters of the U.S.
