This afternoon the boys had a lesson on being easy with their nipping and biting. Teaching a replacement behaviour, such as kiss/lick or offering a toy, is preferable to scolding. I like to simulate how a dog would respond to puppy biting, and that is to yelp. At 5 seconds into the video you can hear me yelp - which I have tried to perfect over the years. Predictably, the yelp causes Gilly to immediately withdraw from biting me because I spoke his language. I offer Gilly a toy to put his teeth on instead which he happily accepts. Meanwhile, their mother has told Quill off for attempting to take the bone from her.
