This amazing sweet has been cooked by Paola, Italian from Palermo, Sicily. CASSATA SICILIANA AL FORNO – BAKED SICILIAN CASSATA INGREDIENTS for the dough: 300 gr all purpose flour 125 gr butter (room temperature) 100 gr sugar 2 yolks 1 egg 8 gr baking powder Lemon zest INGREDIENTS for the filling: 600 g di ricotta cheese 125 g sugar 50 g dark choccolate chips Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead by hands in order to get a soft and smooth ball and put it in the fridge for 30 minutes. Take a pie pan and grease it with butter. Now split the dough into two parts, one a bit bigger than the other and make two circles. Use the bigger circle for the base, in order to make the borders of our baked Cassata cake. Now mix the ricotta cheese with the sugar and the chocolate, add this creamy filling in the pie pan and cover everything with the second dough circle. Bake for 40 minutes at 180°C. SMART TIP: before removing the cake from the pie pan it must be 100% cold!!
