This an interesting photo from Nevada Historical Society. You are standing on Round Hill looking north at Marla Bay. This photo has some interesting characteristics. One is the lack of buildings, another is the clear cut of timber leaving stunted growth for cordwood cutting. With the value of wood they seemed to want it all. In 1864 John Marley claimed 160 acres around this bay for growing hay and potatoes and other vegetables. The road you see is Highway 50. Thats Bourne Meadow and if you look close you can see the Cartwrights riding up from the lake.
