This article articulates the many reasons I introduced a bill to protect NIH funding during the sequestration battle. In addition to saving lives, the biomedical industry drives our economy, especially in Washington state. Weve already lost jobs and interrupted important R&D, but unless we get rid of these cuts, the loss of industry stability and opportunities for growth will be much more detrimental.
