This article by Ben Kuchera on League of Legends critics are trying to sell themselves, not fix the game made for a nice read. Gamers moving on when they feel like they are being milked - [Riot Spokesperson] -while I guess that is true to an extent, mostly in my experience a large portion of that has been people just getting bored - exhausting the available content that interested them, with a lack of innovation from developers and jumping onto that next captivating experience. Being one of the top players in most games led to me getting bored as there were limited challenges and was really only the social aspect that kept me around. One thing this article mentions is that League of Legends isnt a game as much as its an entire industry is an interesting perspective and one that I agree with (while you can argue it is aided by scale.. which it is).. it is fascinating how many people I have met from all over the globe who are so enthusiastic and passionate about anything League related.. and thats not only esports.
