This article does an excellent job of partially addressing the question: Why Do Right-Wing Christians Think Religious Freedom Means Forcing Their Faith on You? - but the author fails to address a critical component to the discussion... That is, the great commission: the tenant and alleged charge by god to go forth and make disciples of all nations. Many Christians take this tenent and alleged commandment VERY seriously and - like many people who subscribe to Islamic ideologies - are not above using law, coercion, and physical force to attain their objective: getting everyone on the planet to adhere to their personal brand of Christian religious ideology. Since this tenent is so central to many Christian ideologies, any real or perceived impediment to forcing their personal religious beliefs on others is perceived as an infringement of their religious freedom. They will continue to claim they are not free unless they are free to force their beliefs on others. Unless they are given carte blanche to force their beliefs on others, they will never be happy - and they will always claim that preventing them from forcing others to abide by their beliefs is persecution. These people desire nothing less than a worldwide theocracy, based upon a specific set of allegedly personal religious beliefs - and they will settle for nothing less than that outcome. Their demands and goals are unjust and unreasonable - and they should not be given an inch - no matter how grandiose their lies, how violent they become, or how loudly they falsely proclaim that they are being persecuted. Ill be the first to stand with religious people in cases of ACTUAL religious persecution, but this is not what we have here. What we have here is various Christian individuals, organizations, and institutions - lying for Jesus - in their attempts to advance their specific and competing versions of Christian dominionism - and tens of millions of Americans being suckered in by their false propaganda and their use of vague, generalized, words, terms, and concepts. Every inch given to these people is an inch taken away from religious freedom - not added to it.
