This article hit a chord with me... I have been in the hospital twice the past year for a week each time. That is long enough to see patients come and go out of different rooms around you, and to witness some of the abuse a small percentage of patients heap up on nurses. It only takes 1 percent of patients behaving like a numbskull pain in the rear to make a miserable day for the folks who are working their hind end off. I had excellent nurses most of the time and very few who were not so attentive for what ever reason. I dont watch much tv, so I had little to do while in the hospital except study the nurses. I would watch them... how they did things, how they reacted to different circumstances, and how their demeanor changed depending on the time time of day or demands upon them. After a day or two you get a feel for their personality and it was easy to see when they where getting frustrated or tired or were fresh from a day off. I often wondered how they shut them selves off when they went home. I came a way with a great deal of respect for what they do and how they do it. Bless them all!
