This article is a Semi SWOT analysis in order to make PIA an ethical organization. It contains the problems, solutions and benefits of the organization that can be helpful in coming future. Orient Airways was established in 1946, later in 1955 name was merged to Pakistan International Airlines first government airline company. For few years PIA served the country with passion and dedication. But for last 15 to 20 years services has gone worst day by day. Main problem is Political Interference due to which many other problems are there. Such as: VIP/POLITICAL INTERFERENCE: Few days ago event was exposed by a civilian that was delay of flight just because of VIP person who was late. This VIP culture has to be ended by giving an organization authority and power to make people follow the rules and regulations which are same for all. UNFAIR BUDGETING/REPAIRING AND MAINTENANCE OF AIRCRAFTS: Two days ago government approved $16.46 million for PIA to induct 15 aircraft on dry lease. But due to political interference this budget would not be utilized in full fair means. This improper allocation of capital is further creating problems. Such as worst conditions of planes and unhygienic environment. Solution for this problem is to spend actual budget on plane(s) and other departments which should be checked by internal and external auditors. It will make conditions of planes good and pleasant flights bring more passengers and more profit. OVER STAFFING/LACK OF SOFT SKILLS: Internationally number of staff/engineers per plane should be 400 (max) but in PIA each plane has 1000 personnel to look after, which make no sense. When a plane can be maintained by maximum 400 persons then why 1000 persons are hired. This over-staffing is another main problem for PIA due to which organization has to pay extra salaries to these extra employees and it is hard to manage large number of people. This problem can be solved by minimizing the number of staff and providing soft skills by training programs which is the responsibility of Human Resource Department. This will make strong/effective management and safe time and money. These are the problems, solutions and benefits which can be achieved only when political interference is stopped. Due to this political interference, liberty of PIA is no more. In order to make PIA an ethical organization we must make PIA an autonomic. (Syed Fayez Ahmed)
