This article makes some good points, but ultimately paints a picture that isnt entirely accurate. The patterns I noticed were tiny crowds on the main stage in the afternoon with decent crowds around the middle stage (showcasing local artists). Starting around 8 pm each night the crowds showed up. a couple thousand at the side stage for Local Natives. At least 5-6k for OAR and Switchfoot, and from the looks of it Cold War Kids too. The prediction of 120K was made by people within the festival based on headliners they didnt have locked in, which wasnt a smart thing to say (to say the least) but it wasnt shabby at all. The after party attendance exceeded my expectations every night. Next year, FMMF needs to be more careful with their PR and make the fashion aspect feel less disjointed from the music, but absolutely keep the free and after party portions of the fest. The people I talked to even during the day (who didnt work for the festival, mind you) were stoked on the event. Advertise the pricing better, mix the fashion and music elements more (catwalk on the main stage maybe?), dont throw out absurd predictions and youll have an even better 2nd year. The festival as a whole was fun for the reasons I listed in my last post. Thoughts? bizjournals/columbus/blog/2014/08/fashion-meets-music-festival-sees-some-sparse.html
