This article nails it. Lack of local scrutiny and next to zero input from citizens have given way to boondoogles like street car, bike and pedestrian path, and other wasteful nonsense over PUBLIC, NON-TOLLED roads and bridges. Brace yourself, good Texans, you are going to be asked to open your wallet and pass Proposition 1, the new transportation funding diversion that will be on state ballots this November. If Prop 1 means taxpayers are going to be on the line for more wasteful projects and continued deaf ears from decision makers concerning transportation as is currently the case--- I would tell the legislature and TxDot to take a hike on one of those trails they are so fond of.
