This article reminded me to be grateful for all of the courage and faith that all of our Texans showed in showing up to making a stand against policy making that we know was wrong. Its important for our friends and loved ones in other states to understand that when we are taking our current stands publicly, we are often risking our physical safety. I thought long and hard about wearing orange when I decided to speak at the recent senate committee hearing. I knew that there was a very real risk that I could be shot down for expressing my beliefs. In deciding to take a public stand, I honored the courageous Texans who are coming out of the closet, politically and socially, in rural areas in Texas. The truth is-they are risking their lives. If they can do it, we can put on an orange outfit and trot our lazy selves up to the Capitol in Austin. If we get shot, we get shot. Thank you to all of the courageous Texans showing their faith right now. It takes some real conviction to embrace the fear and proceed on!
