This beautiful little warrior is Alyssa: Alyssa is one of two children, she has an 8 year old brother named Luca, and she lives in Memphis,TN with her family. Alyssa loves Girl Scouts, playing golf, learning piano, and doing theater. In 2009 Alyssa had a dark colored spitz nevus on her left thigh removed (it was dark, and had two colors going through it)however the pediatrician was not concerned. Then in May of 2012 (only 9 years old) Alyssa’s mom (Angela de Jong-Angelici ) noticed that a little red mole on her forearm had begun to grow,as well as one that she had on her belly. They went back to the dermatologist,he did not seemed concerned about the one on her stomach, however was a little worried about the mole on her forearm. Alyssa had the small red mole on her arm biopsied, with the results coming back Stage 3a Melanoma. The next step was a sentinel lymph node biopsy to be performed, with a positive result in one of the nodes, and 21 negative.Alyssa had to have 3 different surgeries to make sure that it was all removed, however her family chose not to do Interferon due to her other medical issues. In 2013 Alyssa was diagnosed with something called Koolen de Vries Syndrome (Micro deletion on chromosome 17),which was a diagnosis that her family had waited for since birth. Sun exposure for Alyssa needs to be incredibly limited at all times, and she will need to be followed very closely. Alyssa has grown to love her Sun-Angels UPF 50+ sleeves( sun-angels),in which she does a demonstration video on her Fb page, which i have included :) . Right now,10% of all their sales go directly to Melanoma research, and education, and they are a great way to keep your arms protected all the time. https://facebook/teamalyssarocks teamalyssarocks
