This blog entry encapsulates everything that I feel is wrong with blog for pay nowadays: 1. Terrible proposition - nothing in the article really suggests that the $2,000 a night suite is actually a worthwhile investment (in fact I believe blogging about the lower tier staycation would have made the article way more accessible). For $2,000 I can go on a week-long trip to Tokyo, so delicious cookies and a free mini bar aint exactly gonna cut it. Neither are underwater speakers (seriously, why even bother talking about something so inconsequential? Surely you can pare the list down to 10... or 5) 2. Confused about target audience - everything is Instagrammable doesnt come across as being that big a USP for someone whos shelling out $2,000 a night for a suite. I could be wrong - perhaps there are plenty of aspiring Jamie Chuas out there. 3. Terrible English. Seriously, has our standard of English died and gone to hell? Its times like this where I wonder if I shouldnt have tried to monetize my movie review blog a bit more. I mean, not slighting the bloggers out there who actually put in time and effort for their blog entries, but man, the bar is pretty low if something like this constitutes paid (in cash or in kind) blogging in Singapore.
