This can be a short revue too, to say overall if you dont like Malick movies then you def wont like this and if you havent seen many, this aint the one to jump in with. It is mediocre for him and heavier on the laughable annoying things that can weigh him down. Nonetheless, it is amazingly beautiful to look at it and once i sorta surrendered to it, i liked it. It does have more of a story than some of his...albeit a romance. The landscape is pretty, so is the music, so are the images and so are the ladies. Although at the beginning, they had me one more image of Olga dancing happily away from attacking them angrily thru the TV. Oh yeah some Ben Affleck guy is in it. Fortunately, he doesnt need to do much so he can do it fine. He sure does direct well and is brother is unique and awesome (i also watched his Malick inspired beauty Aint Them Bodies Saints) Malick has some random shots here and there of some of the townspeople in addition to the scenery and I like seeing them, esp the weird black dudes and the funny sounding farmers. Oh Javier Bardem wanders around in there too. Its very Malick which is dreamlike and beautiful and sometimes laughably annoying. But the prettiness makes it great for the background. Its worth noting this movie pretty much went unnoticed, esp compared to the Tree of Life which gives much more to either love or hate.
