This can be best understood as such: the pathway of nihilism leads through the valley of oblivion; and this oblivion is the manifesting active element endemic to metaphysical thinking. Via this dynamic, nihilism speaks to that which both conceals and that which is concealed; with the entire process pegged to nothing but the absence of what can no longer be recalled. Insofar as beings fail to maintain respect for one another and their non-objective autonomy, and thus insofar as beings fail to maintain mutually non-objectifying relations vis-à-vis one another (this typically through meta-concepts like otherworldly salvation, sin, and “forgiveness”), this oblivion manifests in the objectifying, reifying, and materially stratifying mode of valuation endemic to modernity; a mode of representational thinking that places beings into positions of utility and circumscribed oblivion; every `thing devalues into an item of valuatory utility, something to be used and “saved”, spent and discarded. Put another way: the authority and sovereignty of beings is usurped to the extent that thinking no longer recognizes the import of beings sans their objective presence. During the closing period of the epoch, things and even people devolve into forms of standing reserve, merely commodities to be manipulated so as to serve one of the various renditions of the meta-kingdom-of-ends. Casting beings as objective entities—as extant representations or images—reflects the violence inherent to the metaphysical epoch’s manner of truth-valuation; and such continues unabated precisely to the extent that the endeavor generates denial through an internal, albeit nihilistically grounded, self-preservation principle of right.130 ---FOOTNOTE-- 130. Self-preservation of the metaphysical paradigm is nothing but what Nietzsche notes when he explicates how the will-to-power always seeks more, the increase of its sense of strength and control, and the preservation of its ownmost centrality relative to lesser elements in the world. Thus, the accumulation of energy is a confirmation of the paradigm’s efficacy and speaks to its centrality of import. At least, such is the rational basis for any such paradigm which basis its orientation of `right’ upon stratified valuations of `increase’; doing so, of course, via circularly derived proofs of judgment. This is why when one demonstrates to another how their argument concerning, for example, economics in a late-modern capitalistic society is unfair and rigged by design, they merely backslide into circular tautologies; into that which is nothing but a feel good delusion for the mind. Appeal to the very same doctrines which underlie the problem, this in a bid to accept their positions as per the self-serving “truths” put forth by the doctrine, is truly a form of phenomenological insanity; a space wherein words and deeds fail to correlate (and thus why such sycophants must always find somebody or thing to blame for the paradigms inequalities and failures).
