This column would make an excellent handout for teaching about the particular situation and precariousness of Central American migrants who attempt to cross Mexico and make their way to the US, a topic that is only beginning to merit journalistic and scholarly treatment. These economic migrants are doubly precarious in the face of a Mexican state that, since it is incapable of providing any security or even a minimally guarantee their right to life, only seeks to expel them and control their movements, and in the face of the US security apparatus along the border with Mexico that grows stronger by the year. Circulate it, read it and use it! Thank you.
