This comes from a brother serving in China with the Navigators. I found it challenging & insightful. What do you think? For me, prayer is not based on me calling out to my Abba but rather it is me JUST listening to my Abba’s voice. For me, I only hear when I am in His Presence ~through The Scripts, through readings, through Words from others, through His Spirit within, through His Voice, through Praise and Worship, through Visions and Dreams, through music, through meditation). For me, hearing Him takes constancy, tenacity, the heart of a listener, persistence, and contemplation. I choose not to escape from my world; BUT just to take leave of that the level of mindfulness that it takes to live in this material world; and thus enter the Flipside. Oh, how I yearn to step away so I no longer am caught-up in the material world around me. In this ‘state of being in prayer’ on the Flipside I am not the initiator, inquirer, the controller, the pleader, the teller. All of history in The Scripts show us that it was/is Abba reaching out, speaking to, and then the people finally stopping and listening. Where/when/how did we become so accustom to prayer being based on a three point list of I want, I need, I ask –help me. So for me, prayer which is based on asking, telling, demanding, wanting is bogus. In Scripts and in my life experience, Abba did not say He would give me the good, safe, easy lifestyle. Nope, Scripts and experience has shown me He does say: ‘I will walk with you on mountain high and in valley low.’ While living on the Flipside in the greatest of joys and the depth of sadness ~my Abba is constantly Speaking! The question for me has become am I placing myself in His Presence ~where I can listen, obey, and then respond?
