This coming Sunday, Sept. 15, Spirit of Grace Lutheran Church will hold a second visioning workshop which will be incorporated into the worship service. Worship will begin at 9:30 AM (note the change in time).,and will continue until about 11:30 AM. Rev. Dr. Julianne Barlow, Assistant for Mission will preach and facilitate the discernment process. Rev. Dr. Julianne has recently joined the staff of the Synod of Alberta to work with congregations and pastors in mission development. Instead of setting up our strategic plans, we need to ask some different questions. Where is God moving? Where is God in the community around us? How has God been equipping us? What gifts has God given us? What opportunities? Where is God calling us? If we are asking where God is, our task is not so much strategic planning, rather it is discernment! And that involves prayer; trying things; failing; learning; watching. It is not so much us making a decision and asking God to bless us but rather to seek God and learn where God is calling us? Let us that we will never lose our connection with Christ’s basic mission of helping people to experience God and that we will continue to be an inviting, inspiring and inclusive community. Friends of Spirit of Grace are invited to pray for this important time this coming Sunday.
