Wiseacre • a day ago − Teachers at taxpayer-funded public schools will be required to have a post-graduate degree - but wont be allowed a student allowance to help achieve it - but so-called *teachers* at taxpayer-funded charter schools wont require any teacher training at all. I suppose qualifications arent required to teach absurd nonsense like creationism. This is public money being handed over to private interests so they can indoctrinate and profit out of our children. Public education shouldnt be about *choice* - it should be about providing equal, high-quality education to all. Schools should be community assets, not revenue streams. We are seeing the rise of anti-intellectualism and the dumbing down of education. Public education systems - burdened with nonsense like *National Standards* - are being actively deconstructed to crush curiosity, critical thinking and the capacity to question authority. They are developing a two-tier education system in New Zealand. Private schooling for the children of the *born to rule* financial & political elite, where the privileged minority can get an actual education in preparation for taking over the reins of power they consider *theirs*, and public schooling for the hungry masses where they get trained in reading and arithmetic.
