This dairy barn was built in 1947 by my great grandfather Ray Smith grandfather Hugh Smith and 5 trustee inmates from the Indiana Reformatory (state prison) in Pendleton. You could use them during the day you feed them and they had to go back at the end of the day. Holstein dairy cows were milked in here every morning and evening 365 days a year! The house is where my great grandparents lived. It was originally located on the other side of 69 over 90 years ago! They rolled it on logs to get it where it is now.
