This date in history: - Oct. 15, 1815 - Napoleon Bonaparte began his exile on the remote island of St. Helena in the Atlantic Ocean. - Oct. 15, 1989 - Wayne Gretzky, while playing for the Los Angeles Kings, surpassed Gordie Howes NHL scoring record of 1,850 career points. - Oct. 15, 1954 - Hurricane Hazel hammered southern Ontario. Hazel caught the Toronto area relatively unaware. When the Humber River flooded, entire neighborhoods were washed away and 81 people were killed. The storm finally dissipated the following day.
