This day, 50 (fifty) years ago being Friday the 22nd November 1960, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, in the State of of Texas. The shock of Kennedys death from a fatal bullet into his head while on a presidential motorcade along Dallas, remains as shocking to this day as it was 50 years ago. The mystery of who were involved besides the man who pulled the trigger and the reasons Kennedy had to be killed remain unresolved to this day. The man who shot a fatal bullet that killed him was himself killed three hours of Kennedys assassination. Kennedy, who is the 31st US President, was probably the most charismatic leader of his time. At the time of his death Kennedy was on a political mission to extend and promote equal civil rights to African Americans who bore the brunt of political segregation in America. His fatefu trip to Dallas was part of Kennedy (accompanied by spouse Jackie)s mission to promote civil rights in favour of black Americans. Whether this courageous mission is the actual driving force to eliminate Kennedy, remains a speculation. The question whether the Secret Service knew and or didint know of the fatal danger facing Kennedy, remains a speculation too. When Vice President Johnson was sworn in as President in the aftermath of Kennedys death, the American nation was plunged into a national mourning which also choken and shocked nations across the world. On this day, being widely commemorated in the US, one wonders for how long will America and the world endure the pain of not knowing why JFK was killed in cold blood and why the Secret Service and the Intelligence apparatus of the State could not have foreseen the danger lurking in the Presidents closer space. All these questions shall forever torment American people and continue to fixate the entire world. Ask not what your country can do for your, ask what you can do for your country; declared President John Fersgerald Kennedy in one public address. Akuhlanga lungehlanga!Sethakgi J Kgomo
