This day is dedicated to our personal, collective and planetary grief, held in a ritual container with sacred intention amongst a supportive group of women and men. If anyone ever doubted that this is the age of the dark mother and that our crisis is an eruption of the agony, ferocity, and power of the dark mother and that the deepest meaning of our crisis can only be found in our relation to the mother as Black Madonna, as Kali, if anyone doubted this, the events that are now unfolding in Fukushima should wake everybody up. But even in the midst of this appalling picture, there is an astounding hope and this hope is born from the deep mystical fact that the eruption of the power of the Black Madonna is crucial to the birth of the Christ consciousness in its full embodied intensity. Grieving is one of the ways we express love for what we’ve lost, and in the process helps us ground in what most deeply matters to us. Whether it be from the loss of dear ones, cherished dreams, places, communities, lost health, abilities and skills, dropping into the deep feelings of grief can be immensely restorative, particularly when witnessed, held and allowed to run its full course by an empathic and respectful community who are nourished by their mutually shared support of each other.
