This entire thing about Catalonia gaining independence and Barcelona deciding to play in Ligue 1 if it happens has me thinking; This would be a catastrophe for Barcelona if it happened; 1)Playing in Ligue 1 would mean bye bye to the huge TV deal which they negotiate independent of the Liga. That would be a huge hole in the pocket. 2)The brand would definitely take a hit as Ligue 1 isnt competitive enough nor do the second tier teams play as well as those in Spain. 3) PSG vs Barcelona wont be as big a draw as the El Classico and that would further hit the brand and the revenues. 4) With reduced revenues it would get difficult to leverage and spend on transfers or invest into La Massia The Liga would be also hit if Barcelona move out. But then theres Catalonian pride so its a tricky one.
