This evening I attended a forum on homelessness in Albury-Wodonga. We heard first hand about the increasing problem in our community and how with high unemployment and under-employment, a shortage of affordable housing & high utility costs it is easy to slip into homelessness and food insecurity. Some great local organisations are battling to meet the need but it is an emerging crisis for our community that will require strong voices and political will. It is a great shame on our wealthy society that so many are left without the most basic rights to shelter and food.
