This fall, the Department of Social Work was awarded a three-year contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services to support undergraduate and graduate education in public child welfare. Currently 12 undergraduates and 10 graduate students are supported by this contract. MSW students receive $10,050 annually, and BSSW students receive $2,200 each semester they are in the program. Acceptance of the stipend is contingent upon the agreement that, once graduated, scholars will seek and accept employment in child welfare positions for a specified amount of time. Under the contract, the Department of Social Work will be reimbursed for costs of developing undergraduate and graduate level child welfare specific coursework. How cool is that?
