This fine article written by my collegue Mr.Irfaan It’s official now! BJP President Rajnath Singh has proved his mettle. Much to the relief of party workers and the supporters of Narendra Modi, the announcement has come in that the Gujarat Chief Minister is BJP’s Prime Ministerial Candidate for the upcoming general election. Celebrations have erupted across the country.Seniormost party leader LK Advani remained defiant till the last moment. But the wily Rajnath Singh dug in his heels even as all party stalwarts made a beeline to LK Advani’s residence to convince him to give up his reported opposition to Narendra Modi’s anointment as BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate. The party stood united in the face of rumour-mongering and mischief making. Finally the battle has been won and Narendra Damodardas Modi is all set to lead his party to a thumping victory in the next general election and become Prime Minister of India. This announcement means a lot in terms of clarity. When voters turn up at polling booths, they will know for whom they should vote if want Narendra Modi as PM. Moreover, this announcement will bring all speculations to an end — such as next election will be about NaMo vs RaGa vs NiKu and so on.In the recent past, Narendra Modi addressed huge rallies in Hyderabad, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan where people turned out in huge numbers to hear him speak. If these large turnouts are any indication of which way the wind is blowing, Narendra Modi’s appointment as Prime Ministerial candidate is the first step in the right direction. Thye aam admi is reeling under inflation. The incumbent Government at the Centre appears clueless to address the burning issue of rising inflation.Political analysts have always held that local issues play significant roles in every election. Indians don’t get to elect their PM directly the way US citizens do. If Indians had been able to elect their PM directly, Narendra Modi would win the next elections hands down and so on. What takes the cake is the widely proposed theory that NDA won’t get the majority needed to form the Government on its own and even allies don’t want to work under Narendra Modi. The poor political analysts seem to have got it all wrong this time around. Perhaps even Narendra Modi knows this. This is why he has maintained a stoic silence and has continued to work towards his goal without getting sidetracked. Even as negotiations with LK Advani were underway, Narendra Modi remained unperturbed and carried on with his work of providing good governance to people of Gujarat nonchalantly. It clearly shows Narendra Modi’s ruthless focus on the task at hand. Looking at the current mess our country is in, everybody believes that Narendra Modi is the right man to lead the country and turn things around.More than Narendra Modi, this anointment is the victory of thousands of party workers across the country and common men and women who harbour the hopes of a better India. Narendra Modi’s mass appeal lies in his track record of good governance in his home State. If senior leaders focus on bringing more allies on board while Narendra Modi leads the election campaign with the messages of good governance and development for all and appeasement for none, if he successfully inculcates the pride in the heart of every Indian with the confidence of ‘we can’, there’s very little doubt why BJP shouldn’t get a clear cut mandate from voters to lead the country out of slavery of dynastic rule and darkness under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The battle is won but much hard work remains to be done. But knowing the man at the helm of affairs, it is doable and India will do it. The rise of Narendra Modi is the rise of India
