This from Eric Rynes over at the Seattle Modern Orchestra. Two awesome concerts of contemporary music Thursday and Friday: Hey guys, French cellist Séverine Ballon is with us this week, playing two shows with SMO, different program each night. The first half of each concert will be solo cello, then well accompany her in works by Gubaidulina, Xenakis, and Rebecca Saunders. The Saunders piece, Ire, is really something, and you should really come hear it if you can. Itll close the second concert, this Fri. the 21st in the Chapel Performance Space, concert starts at 8, Ire will probably start around 8:50pm or 9pm. The other works, and mind-blowing solo works by Liza Lim and Helmut Lachenmann, are on tomorrow nights concert in Poncho Hall at Cornish, starting at 8pm.
