This government is crying out for nurses yet has changed the true meaning of nursing completely. I thought nursing was all about how caring and compassionate you are as a person, how much courage and commitment you have for your job, As well as good communication and competence. So, please can someone tell me why I have worked extremely hard for the last two years on A-levels that wont nessasarily help me in any way on a nursing course. Why is it that I want to devote my life to a career that looks after other people yet I am worrying that I wont get my place at university due to my grades. I understand you need to have a good understanding of maths, english and science, but since when has nursing been purely intellectual. You dont need to have a A* brain to have a good, caring and honest heart. I truly believe that if nursing went back to how it was, using the method of nursing colleges, then the care in the healthcare service would improve dramatically. I am not necessarily the brightest spark in the box and I had to put 110% effort in to just gain a C in GCSE maths but I believe I have a big heart and all I want for myself is to have a career and a future that represents this. Im sure the sames goes for many other people! Rant over ✋
