This great thanks for posting. Unfortunately it will not help if you have a brain stem stroke like I did. It took them 2 years to get the diagnosis correct. The now tell me I have lupus as well. A brain stem stroke is the hardest to to diagnose. I felt sleepy at work for about a week and dropped off every ow and then. When I stood up is was walking and talking like I was drunk. The world span in the opposite direction than I was going. Eventually after a day or so I said to myself Doctors. At the doctors they decided that it must be my inner ear causing these strange feelings within my body. I had then started with pain that felt like someone was stabbing my neck with a knife and the axe murderer decided my right forehead needed hitting. I was in agony and was still having hearing tests left right and center. After 18 months they decided that a neurologist need to have a look at my brain scans. A brain stem stroke leaves a small marker in the neck which as my neurologist can so easily be missed. So I am still in pain, get dizzy, cannot bend over and reach up otherwise I fall over. I can no longer use ladders. My left leg gives way every now and then and I have had so many falls. A broken to and finger, a split lip and several scars. lets put it this way I now suffer from a collection of great things. Acrophobia, Vertigo, Migraine, Lupus and probably a load more bits and bobs. But I am alive there are many who do not survive a brain stem stroke. Those that do a high percentage have locked in syndrome as Jean-Dominique Bauby who wrote The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and a small fraction who suffer like I do. So yes I am thankful for being alive and I will suffer for the rest of my life, and I will endure it all and go on with my life the best way that I can.
