This group brings back so many good memories. I came to Plano from the Caller-Times in Corpus Christi back in 1986 as the manager of the new IT department. I was there from 1986-1990 then returned in 1993 to 1996. This was the best job ever for me. I got to work with every department. I helped install/upgrade computer systems for the accounting/circulation departments as well as install/upgrade the network/graphics/editorial/classified systems. I worked some LONG but FUN hours and spent a lot of time at every office installing/repairing systems. Everyone was so easy to work with and so patient when systems broke down but we always got that newspaper out no matter what. I even remember a group of us, manager/directors included, going down to the mail room to help manually stuff inserts into the paper because the equipment broke down. I grew up professionally there. Im no longer in the newspaper business but I do miss it. Nowadays I help create cloud systems here at IBM. Hard to believe Ive been away from the newspaper industry for almost 20 years now. IBM has been good to me but it will never produce the memories I have of PSC.
