This guy Sid Lipsey has a chip on his shoulder. I never see - TopicsExpress

This guy Sid Lipsey has a chip on his shoulder. I never see Americans abroad do any of the stuff he says we do except for wear baseball caps. Most of this behavior is seen much more among the British than the Americans in Spain, particularly being sloppy drunk and inappropriately dressed. Americans in Spain actually have a good reputation, as I have said before. Getting to Europe is fairly expensive, so you have to be middle-class to afford it. Working-class Americans take their vacations on the Redneck Riviera. Also, Americans who come to Spain are here for the culture, because if they just wanted sun and surf they would go to Florida. So from the US you tend to get tourists who have been to college, who have some interest in the art or the history or the culture, who spend pretty well, who behave fairly respectably, and who often speak a few words of Spanish. The one thing Americans do is overtip. Its not 15 or 20% here, its a couple of euros at a sit-down place, or the change if you just get a drink, or nothing at all, because tippings not required. This is because waiters make the mínimum wage and get health and unemployment insurance and that stuff over here. Tipping has never been a tradition here. https://yahoo/travel/how-to-spot-an-american-in-an-airport-104190326577.html
