This handsome boy looks exactly like a black Norwegian Elkhound. We looked it up to see if they come in black, and they do, though they are more rare. The dogs in the internet pictures could have been his twins. We checked with the experts with Elkhound Rescue and there is no way to say for sure what he is without a DNA test, of course, but they are courtesy listing him on their site for us. They said the black Elkhounds come from different lines from the gray, so they are distantly related. He has a glossy, dense coat, with a beautifully curled tail, and a pink tongue. He is a very nice dog, and does fine with the other dogs in his play group. We suspect he is housebroken. Very calm and gentle, and an all around great dog!
